ABOUT DOMINIC

Dominic Foos was born on 3rd September 1997 in Karlsruhe, Germany, and first started playing golf just before he was three years old. He is a member of Golf Club St. Leon-Rot, Germany, and has played in the German national team since 2011.

In May 2012, Dominic became the number one under-15 golfer in the world and also topped the European rankings in the under-16 age group. In Germany, he was the number one under-19 player and in August 2013 Dominic was the #1 amateur golfer in Germany.

At the age of 10, Dominic’s handicap was as low as 8. By the time he was just 12, he was already a “scratch golfer”. He was regularly carding under-par rounds and shot three hole-in-ones within the space of a year. At 13 he possessed a plus handicap and two years later, aged 15, his handicap was +6.

In March 2013 he became the youngest ever winner of the French International Boys Championship. Prior to this, he had already caught the eye as the youngest winner of the German Match Play Championship, the German International Boys and the German Junior Championship. At the German International Boys, he carded a course record 64 (8 under par) on his second round on his way to a winning score of 14 under par. In June 2013, Dominic won the German International Boys for the second time, this time by a margin of 12 clear shots and a total score of 19 under par, thanks in no small part to a dazzling final round of 62.

Dominic was a member of the Junior Ryder Cup team in 2012, and won the Jacques Leglise Trophy with the Continent of Europe team in the same year. He was also named in the squad for the Eisenhower Trophy. In October 2012, he became the first golfer ever to win the sport category of the Audi Generation Award.

In June 2012, he became the youngest golfer ever to break into the top 150 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) and the top 40 amateurs in Europe. Dominic appeared first on the European Tour at age of 15. After making 39th position at the Nelson Mandela Championship, he became the youngest golfer ever who reached a top-40 position on the European Tour.

Since turning ten, Dominic has played in numerous international tournaments in the USA and Europe. In 2010 and 2011 he won back-to-back titles at the USKG European Championships in the under-13 and under-14 age groups in Gullane, Scotland (winning by 9 and 11 strokes respectively). Dominic also won the 16th PARS Florida Int. Juniors, becoming the youngest person ever to do so in the process.

Within two years, Dominic has won 14 tournaments and achieved many top results at various high-ranking tournaments for both juniors and men. In 2012 he was undefeated in his 17 singles matches in match play format, winning 12 and halving .

Before turning Professional Dominic was invited to play the 2014 Qatar Masters and finished the tournament T16 as best German player in the field.

After turning Professional in September 2014 Dominic played numberous European Tour and European Challenge Tour events and gained valuable experience of being a Tour Professional. An early highlight in his career was the victory of the 2015 GANT Open. With this historic win he set the record of being the youngest Challenge Tour winner of all time.
